Overview

Following studies in Economics, Terencio Gonzalez caught the fever of painting, joining the Paris École Nationale des Beaux Arts in 2013, and graduating in 2015.

He is a seeker. At the Beaux-Arts, joining Jean-Michel Alberola’s studio, he learned how to react to the state of the world, the importance of detail beginning his exploration of popular topics.

Though he studied paintings by the greatest masters, streets offered freedom of expression and his main source of inspiration. His past life as a street artist, and ironically, as a municipal agent tasked with erasing graffiti, have shown him how chatty city walls can be.

Visiting Buenos Aires, Terencio Gonzalez reactivated his father’s Argentine roots. Here, he collected cheap posters, a popular medium for illegal posts, indiscriminately conveying political messages or notices for concerts and parties. In 2013, he began drawing from his poster collection to produce a series of canvases, forming vibrant abstractions, celebrations of painting, color, and light.
